BYOKchat
Support
Last updated: September 1, 2026
BYOKchat connects directly to providers, models, endpoints, and MCP servers you configure. When something fails, the fastest fix usually starts by identifying whether the problem is in the app, the selected connection, or the external service.
Provider connection problems
- Confirm the selected provider account and model are still available.
- Check that the API key or authentication header is valid and has not expired or been revoked.
- Check the provider for quota, billing, rate-limit, or outage messages.
- For custom endpoints, verify the base URL and authentication method.
- For private-network servers, confirm the iPhone can reach the server on the same network.
Chat or generation problems
- Try the same request without optional attachments or tools to isolate the failing capability.
- Confirm the selected model supports the attachment or feature you are using.
- If a generation was interrupted, use BYOKchat's recovery or regenerate controls rather than repeatedly resending a possibly billable request.
- Review the local diagnostics view when an error code or provider response is available.
MCP tool problems
- Confirm the MCP server is enabled for the current conversation.
- Check the tool policy: Ask, Always Allow, or Disabled.
- Review the server, tool name, and arguments shown in the approval flow before allowing execution.
- For remote servers, confirm the endpoint and authentication are still valid.
BYOK Pro and purchases
BYOK Pro purchases are handled by Apple. Use the app's restore-purchases flow if an existing purchase is not recognized. App Store billing, refund, and subscription-management issues may need to be handled through Apple.
Backups and restores
BYOKchat full backups are versioned and can include conversations, attachments, Projects, saved Library data, tool rounds, preferences, and non-secret configuration. API keys and MCP credentials are intentionally excluded, so credentials may need to be configured again after a restore or device change.
Keep exported backups private: they can contain conversation and workspace content even though secrets are excluded.
